The Quality of Your Natural Skin
As we age, fine lines and wrinkles etch the story of our lives, marking years of smiles, frowns, surprises, and laughter on our skin. These lifelong reminders of our experiences can be badges of honor or can appear out of place—and we all deserve to feel happy and confident in our own skin.
At McCauley Dean Aesthetics, our passion is helping people feel good, which is why we provide customized skin care treatments that cater to our patient’s unique needs. From innovative noninvasive procedures to medical-grade skin care products, our goal is to restore healthier, beautifully natural skin.
Where Do Wrinkles Form?
Everyone experiences wrinkles as we age. The face, neck, and arms are typically the most noticeable areas, but wrinkles can appear anywhere on the skin.
Fine lines can start forming as early as age 25, yet most people only seek treatment between ages 40–55.
Although wrinkles cannot be prevented entirely, the good news is that you can reduce premature wrinkles by taking good care of your skin.
What Causes Fine Lines & Wrinkles?
As we age, our skin undergoes a myriad of changes affecting its health and quality. Genetics, sun exposure, nutrition, hydration, smoking, and lifestyle choices all influence its appearance.
Over time, skin gets thinner and loses its flexibility because we produce less collagen and elastin. And that’s when fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging can become increasingly noticeable.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and becomes drier due to decreased collagen, elastin, and natural oils.
We also lose volume from the dermis (middle skin layer) and fat from the hypodermis (bottom skin layer), causing loose or sagging skin.
Although sunlight has many benefits, overexposure can speed up aging by breaking down collagen and elastin—vital proteins that maintain skin health.
When these proteins are depleted, skin loses strength and elasticity, leading to premature or increased wrinkles and age spots.
Smoking can accelerate skin aging and contribute to wrinkles. Nicotine damages the skin’s blood vessels and modifies collagen and elastin-producing fibroblasts, which are responsible for skin structure and health.
The muscles in your face are like a roadmap beneath your skin, shaped by every smile, squint, or laugh. Youthful, resilient skin bounces back effortlessly, but with age, skin loses elasticity and plumpness, causing wrinkles to form in place of your happiest expressions.
